Puppy Training

They are only a puppy once.  Start them off right.

Congrats on your new puppy! Isn't it exciting? Yet at the same time, it can be overwhelming.

Did you know that the key socialization period for your puppy is until they are 12 weeks? In fact the puppy's brain changes at 12 weeks. This is one of the most important periods to teach your puppy, and our Puppy Program will help ensure your puppy has proper socialization.

And here's where it gets interesting. Socialization isn't what everyone will lead you to believe it to be. What it isn't is having puppies running around together with no teaching and minimal supervision. Socialization is exposure to many different things (dogs, people, experiences, sounds, smells, challenges, handling) and teaching the puppy to be neutral. You don't want a teenager that barks and pulls to greet every dog? Then getting socialization right from the start is so important. Much of my training of adolescent and adults has to undo these habits that were created and imprinted when they were young!

Whether you think you are or not, you are training your puppy the minute you bring it home. Puppies are sponges, and if you're not careful, you can teach your puppy a lot of bad habits without realizing it. So why not teach the puppy manners and proper behaviours in the language that he/she understands?

That's where My Dog Rocks training comes in. You will learn how to build the right relationship with your pup the moment he or she comes home.

Puppy Program

Our Puppy Program is designed for puppies from 8 weeks to 16 weeks. Would you like to eliminate problems down the road rather than having to deal with them when your puppy is older? Do you know what proper socialization for puppies is (hint: it's not unlimited play with other puppies, which can actually cause more issues down the road).

In our Puppy Program we teach you the key things your puppy needs to know before they reach the critical 12 week mark, Do you know what the most important thing that you need to do with your puppy is? What is imprinting and why is it so important? Then the Puppy Program is for you.

If your puppy is 16 weeks and older, the One on One Programs or Foundation Group classes are for you.
