My Rocking Dogs

Diesel

Diesel is a 4 year old hound mix that we've had since she was 4 months old. Man, this girl can smell! Nose to the ground most of the time, if there's a scent to be found, Diesel will find it.

Diesel is much of the reason I got into training. If there was an issue to be had, she pretty much had it. She was not housetrained (which took months of patience and consistency). She pulled on the leash. Jumped on people. Nipped. Was so excited all the time. Barked when we left the house. Chewed everything in sight. She was my challenge.

Well, today she's a well mannered little lady who I adore. She is an amazing teacher, not just for me but for other dogs as well. She's a great older sister to Jake, and taught him the rules from an early age. She loves a good bone (raw of course) and a fine bowl of raw meat (this girl can EAT!). Her face lights up when we do urban agility - she gets so excited. Diesel has a rockin' sit stay - I could have her stay in a busy park for a half an hour. But my favourite part of the day is coming home and hearing her sing - her howl that greats us every day!

Jake

Jake is my little man at 2 yrs. We got Jake when he was 9 months old, and he's such a little charmer. He's a lab mix (I think!) and although he and Diesel look alike, they're not remotely related. And they're so different from each other!

Jake's a party animal - loves to have fun and has a grin to match. He loves other dogs, and I've nicknamed him the Walmart Greeter. When we're at the park, it's his job to watch the entrance and welcome every new dog to the park. He has so many friends, I've lost count! He's such a clown, and if you give him a chance, will give you a big lick hello.

Jake is growing into an awesome young dog, and has learned well from his older sister and best friend, as well as his other buddies, the CET's dogs. Jake is my helper quite often in classes and sessions, and now he's passing along his knowledge to help other dogs.

PantJack

Jack was a shepherd mix and one of the most amazing dogs I've ever known. Calm and wise, with a fun side that he never lost. We adopted Jack as a senior and only had him for 4 years. In that short time, we had a lot of fun together. His favourite thing? Well, it was a toss up between chasing balls and riding in the car. He was so excited when he was in the car, he sounded like a bird! I really miss that.

Jack was a true Alpha dog. When he walked through the dog park, the dogs would part to let him through. He was never aggressive, and never got in a fight. He carried himself like a king, and all the dogs knew it.

Everyone who met him loved Jack. The most common comment that I heard was "I wish my dog was like Jack!"

We went through some challenging times, from losing an eye to cancer, to being paralyzed in his back end. And then of course the difficult decision to let him go, knowing that his quality of life was suffering.

He'll always have a special place in our hearts. RIP Jack.
